NEW YEAR in fabulous Prague!
Probably, there is not any place with a fairy Christmas atmosphere like in Prague in the world. Undoubtedly, Paris, New York, London, Moscow and many other capitals are beautiful, and also decorated with lights and splendor of festive tinsel - but in Prague, it is different - the old town thoroughly imbued with the magic, warmth of its people, the sweet smell of gingerbread and spicy mulled wine.
In Prague, there are a myriad of ancient Christmas traditions, customs and fascinating rituals. St. Nicholas comes on his feast day, a special holiday apart from Christmas (celebrates in 6th December) when the Holy walks through the streets with his good angels and the yo-maskers and asks the kids if they are well behaved all year. From this period, the city is immersed in a real fairy tale.
On the main square of the Old Town Christmas market is opened, where you can buy all sorts of sweets, the legendary Bohemian glass and festive paraphernalia, as well as to try all sorts of Czech sausage and, of course, excellent beer. You will become a spectator of street theater, listen to folk songs or observe the work of blacksmiths and other craftsmen.
All areas of the city are decorated with festive firs and nativity scene compositions that depict the birth of Jesus Christ. Howerver, the special Christmas decoration Prague is snow, it always goes to the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, probably as a reward, because, Praguers faithfully keep their holiday traditions. In the New Year's Eve, residents and guests of the capital of Czech gather at Old Town Square, drink sparkling wine or a beer, and then rush to the Charles Bridge, to make a wish under the chiming clock and volleys of fireworks, which will certainly be fulfilled next year.
