Caucasian Mineral Waters (CMS) - a conglomerate of cities located within the Stavropol Upland and northern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. CMS is one of the oldest resort regions of Russia, known since 1803. This area is famous for the best enterprises of sanatorium-resort complex, their main specialty - providing health and wellness services, treatment of world-renowned waters and mineral mud.

Variety of relief creates noticeable differences in climate of resorts of Caucasian Mineral Waters. In Pyatigorsk, summer is warm, winter is moderately soft (third of winter days - with rain, thaws, and fog) and 98 clear days a year. Kislovodsk is famous as a winter health resort, winter is clear and dry, and the number of sunny days per year are150 here. Kislovodsk also highlighted the constancy of atmospheric pressure, which favorably affects the healing process. Caucasus Mineral waters is a unique resort: there are many compact fields of healing waters, which are very different in composition, and treatment modality. There is a source of "Narzan" in Kislovodsk, with its seething from the carbon dioxide "cold boiling water," and radon waters of Pyatigorsk, and hydro-chloride sodium of Yessentuki and many others. Essentuki field contains carbonic chloride-bicarbonate sodium type of water "Essentuki-4" and "Essentuki-17", hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide chloride-hydrocarbonate sodium water of medium mineralization and others. They are used for drinking and external procedures. Pyatigorsk field has very rich variety of mineral waters that are used for drinking and for outdoor use.

Zheleznovodsk field - it's mostly carbon dioxide low-mineralized sulphate-hydrocarbonate calcium-sodium mineral waters. They are used for drinking water treatment and for outdoor balneoprocedures.

We should also mention the field of therapeutic lake mud Tambukan 15 km awa yfrom Pyatigorsk, which generously provides the mud all the ride-sodium composition with a high mineral content. The mud and brine lake have bactericidal effect, and black plastic sulphide mud contains many organic compounds, hydrogen sulfide and methane.
