City tour.

After your breakfast in your hotel, we shall start our city tour today. We will visit the old city - Icheri Sheher, as know as Inner city. It is the historical core of Baku. For a long period of time, an explicit symbol of the Old City was a mulberry tree located behind the Djuma Mosque. It was believed that the tree was several hundred years old. The tree made its way into many sayings and songs popular in the Old City, and became a local landmark. The place where that tree was located was referred to as Mulberry Tree Square. However, in 1970s the mulberry tree was cut down, because of the nearby construction works.

In the city, we will visit Palace of the Shirvanshahs which is the biggest monument of the Shirvan-Absheron branch of the Azerbaijan architecture. Also we will viist the Maiden Tower which is noted landmark and one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems. In December 2000, both of them became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Transfer to Ganja.

Departure in Ganja. Ganja - one of the most interesting and famous cities of Azerbaijan. Located at the foot of the Lesser Caucasus, Ganja for centuries played an important role in the life of Azerbaijan. The city is known as the capital of one of the progenitors of the state of Azerbaijan - Ganja Khanate. Besides Ganja - the birthplace of the world famous poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi.

The heyday of Ganja began with its inception in the early Middle Ages. Of course, the main reason for the rapid development of the city was its favorable geographical position. A Ganja ran many trade and caravan routes, the most famous of which was the Great Silk Road.

Today Ganja for the tourist attractive in the first place as a city member of the project to restore the famous trade route. Ganja, as well as many other cities of Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Iran, China and Western Europe is involved in the formation of the "Great Silk Road" global tour.

Now days Ganja - is typical of the Caucasus city, full of attractions. Despite the tragic history (numerous wars and an earthquake in 1139, completely destroyed Ganja from the earth), Ganja preserved many unique buildings. Mausoleum Jomard Gassab complex Goy Imam, archaeological complexes on the territory of the Old Ganja - here are some of the most striking examples of urban architecture that span half a thousand-year period in the history of the city.

Among the natural beauty of Ganja worth noting Reserve Gek-Gel in the vicinity of the territory of which the eponymous lake. Lake Gek-Gel is unique in that it was formed in the 12th century as a result of the aforementioned earthquake. Thus, a terrible tragedy has led to the birth of a natural wonder, one of the most beautiful natural monuments of Azerbaijan.
